Junior C Hurling Championship Group Match
Weds 28th August 2013 in Faiche Padraig

ST. THOMAS'.............0-9

It was an impressive win for Tommy Hanlon and Aidan Fahy's men and they proved too good for the visitors from St. Thomas'. The game was played in very good conditions in Kinvara's Faiche Padraig, with both sides putting in some good passages and play.

Kinvara started the brighter and very soon had a good lead, thanks to a well taken goal. At the 20 min mark, Kinvara lead 1-9 to 0-1, and followed that up with two more points by the 25 minute mark. St. Thomas' finished the half with a mini rally and struck over two well taken points to leave the scoreboard reading: Kinvara 1-11 to St. Thomas' 0-3.

For the second half, St. Thomas' were with the breeze but still one felt the margin was too much to bridge. That was to prove the case, as their initial early second half points were only to be matched by ones from Kinvara. With 20 mins left on the clock the score read Kinvara's 1-16 to St. Thomas' 0-6. Credit to St. Thomas' who kept pluggin away but were unfortunate to come up against a Kinvara defence that were mean and giving nothing away, led by the man in goals Tommie Hanlon and full back Aidan Fahy (have to give the managers a plug!).

Kinvara forwards struck for two more goals in the closing ten minutes to record their biggest win in Junior C in the clubs history!

Kinvara now finish 5th in the group, and one place out of the championship quarter-finals. However, there is a Shield compeititon and one that this bunch of lads will now target to win and bring much wanted silverware to the shores of South Galway.
