Kinvara U-12 footballers  fielded two teams and put on a very gritty display against a strong Craughwell team on a wonderful evening for football.

Karim Mullary started in goal, giving a fine display. The full back line of Oran Frawley, Tuan O’ Malley and Eoghan Hanley worked tirelessly all evening limiting the Craughwell forwards to meagre scoring opportunities. Danny Travis gave a wonderful display at centre-half back, easing pressure on the full-back line while assisting the midfield players.

Darren Kilkelly and Luke Connors, at mid-field, had their toughest test yet against a strong Craughwell pairing. Darren and Luke contested everything and supplied their forwards with some decent ball, while tracking back to limit the threat of the Craughwell attack.

Donal Keeley gave one of his best displays to date at centre-half forward, winning a huge amount of ball and distributing it to his inside forwards. Donal also took some fine scores himself.

The full-forward line of Michael Donnelly, Thomas Connolly and Michael Corless gave a great display. Michael Corless took his scoring chances and put great pressure on the Craughwell while in possession. Thomas Connolly used his strength to great effect to win a lot of ball which led to most of Kinvara’s scoring chances. Michael Donnelly swapped positions with Karim Mullery in the second half and made two very important saves which kept his team ahead. As corner forward Karim Mullery took two of the best scores of the game.

The other Kinvara team started with Ciaran O Donoghue in goals and while Ciaran played really well and had some great kickouts, there was a siege on the Kinvara goal in the first half. The backline of Patrick Byrne, Conal Larrissey, and Donal Mulligan were under intense pressure and found the movement of Craughwell  forwards hard to control.

The midfield line of Ruairi MacSweeney , Cathal Walshe and Jake Comyn work extremely hard all evening but they were up against a towering Craughwell midfield line with some extremely impressive high fielding by the Craughwell players.

The forward line of Dean Ivers, Barry Britton, Aidan O Sullivan, Damien McHugh and Jamie Killeen were starved of possession and found it difficult to get loose from the tight marking of the Craughwell defence.

A special mention has to be given to Barry Britton for an inspirational display of courage and determination and never say die attitude. It was truly great to witness and his team mates will now be inspired to produce similar displays in upcoming games.

All in all a fine display with lots of positives to build on going into the league campaign.
