Minors hoping for a Great Friday!

PIER HEAD Minor A Hurling Championship
Good Friday 18th April, in Gort 6pm.

Kinvara minor hurlers resume action this weekend with their second match in this years championship. Tommie Larkins are the opposition, in their first outing, and the Woodford lads will be no doubt hoping for a good start. Like us, they played in U16A two years ago, and like us they also failed to make the quarter-finals. They did however reach the Minor A quarter-finals last year, and will surely be targetting to better that this time around.
Kinvara drew their opener last Sunday against Liam Mellows (0-16 to 0-16). Derek Smith's side will be hoping to better on that performance and that result. An improvement will be required though, as we didnt play to our potential last weekend, and in Minor A hurling there is no room for mediocre, as every single player must be at their best. We did have many positives to take from the last day, and management have plenty to work on. Not least is the fact that only 4 of Mellow's points came from play, with an embarressing 10 coming from frees (plus two 65's).
So, an interesting tie ahead this Friday. I dont think these two sides have met in previous years in this particular age-group, but we can be sure that they will know each other well after the sixty minutes!
