Kinvara v Craughwell SHC Trivia

posted 19 Jun 2013, 13:50 by Unknown user

For an incredible fourth year in-a-row, Kinvara face Craughwell in the County Cup. The Craughwell side have been showing well in recent years, with a quarter-final appearance in 2010, followed up with a semi-final appearance in 2011. Although they just failed to reach the quarter-finals last year, there is no doubt they will be hunting for the knockout stages this year, especially as the championship seems more wide open and balanced.

How many times have we played at senior championship and name the years.?

Answer: 6 times.........
2002: Group: Craughwell 2-16 beat Kinvara 3-11
2007: Group: Kinvara 2-9 beat Craughwell 0-10
2010: Prelim Quarter: Craughwell 0-11 beat Kinvara 0-8
2011: Group: Craughwell 2-18 beat Kinvara 2-12
2012: Group: Craughwell 1-14 beat Kinvara 1-11

1) This is the 4th year in a row to play Craughwell in SHC. We have never done that before with any other club. In fact, it would be hard to find two other clubs who have met four years in a row.
2) Score stands Craughwell 4, Kinvara 1.
3) In the past 11 seasons, we have met 5 times. This now will be 6th in 12 seasons. Probably one of our best rivals in recent years, alongside Clarinbridge and Castlegar.
4) Any time we've beaten Craughwell in championship hurling, we have gone on to reach the county final. Fact!!!!!!!
5) We have also played them in a relegation battle match in 1986.

6) The Kinvara Team v Craughwell in 2002:
Colm Callanan, Ian Bermingham, Peter Huban, Jonathon Kavanagh, Shane Kavanagh, Gerry Mac, Colm Burke, Christy Helebert, Kieran Burke, Cathal Connolly, David Huban, Damien Huban, Gerry Huban, Anthony Byrne, Dara Smith.
Subs: Stevie Moylan for S. Kavanagh (injured) and Cathal Curtin for I. Bermingham.
