Junior B's face Gort in Championship opener

There will be a tough assignment ahead of Kinvara Junior B hurlers later this evening as they face neighbours Gort in this years Junior B Championship first round tie.

Although Kinvara's league form has been good, winning all four matches to date, there is no doubt that championship actin will always prove a lot trickier. It wasnt too long ago that Kinvara one year won all their league matches and hopes were high heading into the championship. That all came to nothing as we subsequently lost all championship matches and barely avoided relegaton.

The Gort threat will have to be dealt with cautiously. They are a good side, and this is really their side that won last years county Junior C Chmpionship with some great performances. They have a nice blend of experience and some talented younger lads.

Manager John Linnane and selectors John McDonagh, Colm Callanan and Niall Curtin are short several key players for this tie. Unavailable through injury are Ian Bermingham, Sean Bermingham, Mark Kavanagh (all three saw senior experience last year), while veteran Anthony Byrne and young Nessan O'Hanrahan are also injured. On top of that we are also missng some of our Leaving Certs.

A tough task ahead, but hopefully the lads will get through it.
