Junior B Championship Preview 2014

posted 22 May 2014, 14:07 by Garret Byrne
Kinvara Junior B's face their championship opener this weekend with a tough task against Abbeyknockmoy (Saturday 24th May in Carnmore 7pm).

Manager John Linnane, is again joined by David Huban on the line (although David will be hoping to make the team this time!), while he has also been joined by the experienced duo of Eamon Bermingham and Joe Quinn.
John is missing a few key players from last year from a combination of senior tied, summer J1s and retirements. To balance that he can welcome to the fold a good bunch of new 17 year olds, while David Huban and Mark Kavanagh bring added experience.

The format this year is 3 groups with top four in each group to qualify for the knockout stages.
Kinvara's group has 6 teams, with us being joined by Killimor, Kilbeacanty, Abbeyknockmoy, Castlegar and Tynagh-Abbey-Duniry.

Kinvara had a mixed campaign last year. We did very well in the group stages, winning 5 out of 6 matches, and the one we lost was by a single point. We unfortunately got bet by Oranmore-Maree in the preliminary quarters, which was disappointing as the season promised a bit more than that.
Saturday's opponents Abbeyknockmoy always prove wily customers, and we always have close matches with them. We did meet last year in the group, with Kinvara wining 4-17 to 3-12, but we can be sure the margin will be tighter this time around.
