Kinvara 3-17, Beagh 1-18

These two old rivals from South Galway served up a classic yesterday evening in the opening round of this years Junior B Hurling League. On a lovely evening up in Beagh, it was the visitors who took the spoils in this highly entertaining match.

Kinvara fielded a strong side, although they did not play any of their minors who were rested due to them having their opening minor championship match this coming Monday. The management of John Linnane, John McDonagh, Colm Callanan and Niall Curtin will be quite happy with their sides performance. Three goals and seventeen points is an impressive scoreline, although one can be sure that there is plenty room for improvement, considering Beagh themselves scored 1-18.

Kinvara took an early grip on this match, and held a nice lead before the Beagh lads rallied back in the second half. With little to separate the two sides, it was then the turn of the Kinvara team to play strongly again, and a good finish helped sealed the win.

Kinvara team:
Mike Smith, Darren Geaney, David Burke, Gerard Linnane, Kieran Burke, Paul Keane, Ian Bermingham, Enda Mahon, Patrick Canney, Sean Bermingham, Peter Mahon, Mark Kavanagh, Eric Keane, Anthony Byrne, Niall Kilkelly.
Subs who came on were Ollie Bergin, Ger O'Connor, Shane Sullivan and Aidan Fahy, while Mike Kilkelly also togged.
